General Description Kalgoorlie - Gold mining centre and one of the most fascinating places to visit in Western Australia. Prospector Holiday Park is well-named, for as well as being Kalgoorlie's premier tourist park, it has its own stories to tell about Kalgoorlie's intrepid prospecting community and there is no better base from which to experience the excitement and history that have made Kalgoorlie a city of dreams and fortunes. Sites: A lot of people tend to think that Kalgoorlie is in a desert region and that there won't be any trees or vegetation. It's a nice surprise to see so many trees in Prospector Holiday Park and so many shady powered sites. We have ample good sites for campers and campervans too, with plenty of sites around the large camp kitchen, and shade-cloth campsites that keep everything clean and neat. Cabins and Rooms Family Ensuite Cabins; These larger cabins can accommodate 5 people and come fully equipped and with linen on the main bed and towels. They have reverse-cycle air-conditioning, microwave oven, fridge, kitchen equipment & utensils, electric blanket in winter and TV with video recorder. There is one double bed in the main living area and either bunks in the separate bedroom or a double bed with a bunk over. The ensuite has a shower, toilet and washbasin. Suitable for the larger or extended family, or 2 couples traveling together. Ensuite Cabins: These can accommodate up to 5 people and come with a double bed and triple bunks or double bunks. In some floor plans the double bed is in a separate room. They are fully equipped as above, with the exception of a video recorder, which can be hired if desired. Budget Ensuite Cabins: These are the same as the ensuite cabins, but with evaporative airconditioners and fan heaters, not reverse cycle air-conditioning. Linen is available for hire. Standard Cabins: These come equipped with cooking facilities, fridge, kitchen equipment, crockery and cutlery, but do not have their own shower and toilet. They are conveniently located near the amenities block, and suitable for those on a tight budget but be sure to book ahead as we have only 3 of them. Other options for those on a tight budget are a caravan with annexe. Ensuite Rooms: These either share an ensuite one to 2 rooms or have their own private ensuite. They provide comfortable fuss-free accommodation for a single person with bed, linen, wardrobe, washbasin in the room, table and chair, TV, fridge, microwave, and basic crockery, kettle & toaster. These are good for single people traveling alone who want to get to meet people in a caravan park environment (the camp kitchen is a great place to swap travel stories) but do not wish to camp. Good also for working people posted to the area for a short period. Attractions You'll find everything you need at Prospector with its spacious camp kitchen, children's playground, swimming pool, free BBQs, TV and Internet room and public phones. You can also purchase stamps, phonecards, ice, ice-creams and soft drinks from the office which is open daily from 7.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. We have plenty of tourist information available from the office staff who can also arrange tour bookings for you. Car Parking There is Off-street Parking available. Child Policy In our different types of Accommodation there is an Extra Guest Charge per night of $15 per Extra Adult and $10 per Extra Child. On our Sites there is an Extra Guest Charge per night of $10 per Extra Adult and $6 per Extra Child. Pets are only allowed on Sites and incur an extra cost of $1 per night. Transportation You'll find Prospector Holiday Park off the Great Eastern Highway on the right hand side as you come from Perth. It's just behind the Caltex Station on the corner of Ochiltree Street. From there, it's just 3km straight up Hannan Street to the city centre and an easy drive to all the tourist attractions.
